Chief Minister's Scholarship for Ph.D on Climate Change
As per the Vision Document-2018 of GoMP, State-level Knowledge Management Centre on Climate Change (SKMCCC) has been setup in EPCO. SKMCCC functions to create, collect, analyze, synthesize and disseminate the knowledge on climate change in state of MP. It works on research, education and projects on climate change related aspects.
To encourage basic & genuine research activities on climate change issues in the state, EPCO is conferring 5 scholarships per year to candidates pursuing PhD on climate change issues of MP. This will help in creation of knowledge / information regarding climate change in MP through their thesis and subsequent publications. This would also result in building capacities with regard to climate change. GoMP is pioneering this scholarship.
Scholarships are being offered Ph.D Scholarship to candidates enrolled in 10 premier institutes established in MP viz. IIFM Bhopal, MANIT Bhopal, SPA Bhopal, IIITM Gwalior, IIT Indore, IIM Indore, JNKVV Jabalpur, IISER Bhopal, Vikram University Ujjain and Central Univeraity Sagar. Only bonafide Indian citizens pursuing Ph.D degree in any of the above mentioned 10 select universities / institutes are eligible for applying for the scholarships.
The concerned university / institute shall send nomination of maximum one candidate each year to EPCO following a transparent procedure. Admission procedure for Ph.D program shall be as per the rules & norms of respective host university / institute. This program is equivalent to UGC and CSIR.
At EPCO, a Jury having expert members will be constituted by Executive Director EPCO. Coordinator, SKMCCC, EPCO shall be the non-member secretary of the committee. The Jury will examine the proposals received from 10 select institutions / universities and give its recommendations to Executive Director, EPCO for final selection of five or less than five suitable candidates for the scholarship based on candidate's presentation before the expert committee. The decision for selecting / rejecting the application for scholarship rests solely with Executive Director EPCO. His decision shall be final & binding.
Each candidate will receive stipend for the scholarship of INR 25,000/- per month for a maximum duration of three years (36 months) from the date of start of the scholarship. Beside, contingency grant of INR 50,000/- per year will also be given to the candidate. A total of INR 10.50 lakhs will be provided to the candidate receiving support through this program.
