Madhya Pradesh State Action Plan on Climate Change v 2.0


Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India has advised all the states to revise their respective State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC) in view of the UNFCCC Paris Agreement on Climate Change and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) agreed by India in Paris CoP, 2015 to reduce Green House Gas emissions. Given the advise from MoEFCC, EPCO has started the process of revising the MP SAPCC. UNDP India, WRI India and GHG Platform India (a consortium of Vasudha Foundation, WRI India, CEEW, CSTEP, ICLEI-SA) are providing technical support for revising the SAPCC document. At the national level, the matter is being monitored by Additional Secretary, MoEFCC, GoI. A review meeting in this regard has also been held on 24 May 2019 in Pune.

MoEFCC, GoI has also issued Common Framework for revision of SAPCC to all the states. As per the common framework guidelines, a core group comprising representatives from line departments, subject experts and NGOs/CSOs has been formed to bring in expertise on climate change in to the process of SAPCC revision. An inception workshop has been convened on 05-06 Feb 2019 to orient the stakeholders on the revision of MP SAPCC. The first meeting of core group has also been convened on 29 June 2019 involving all the concerned stakeholders giving a brief overview on the MP SAPCC v 2.0. Second meeting of the core group was convened on 25 Nov 2019 at Bhopal. MP SAPCC v 2.0 would be finalised and published in 2022. For draft SAPCC v 2.0 document, please go through the link.
